Position Overview

Collège Éducacentre, the only French-language college in British Columbia, is seeking an individual to support an international student community.

The purpose of this position is to assist students with their integration into Canada and their studies at the College. You will work closely with the Project Coordinator for the International Student Community and the Vice-President of Education, while being fully integrated into the College team.

Your role will be to respond to a variety of student needs and guide students throughout their academic journey and their transition after graduation.

Employment Details

  • Location: Surrey, BC (2 days remote work)
  • Hourly wage: Between $30.00 and $32.00 per hour
  • Work schedule: 30 hours per week

Responsibilities and Nature of the Position

Commitment to the College

  • Support and promote the mission, vision, and values of Collège Éducacentre.

Pre-Arrival Support

  • Respond to questions from prospective students before their arrival in Canada.
  • Assist in developing workshops for the international student community before their arrival and during their studies in Canada.
  • Organize logistics related to students’ arrival.
  • Provide support in identifying College partner organizations that can assist students with their integration.

Student Support During Their Studies

  • Assist international students with administrative processes throughout their academic journey (such as opening a bank account).
  • Help students understand academic requirements within the Canadian education system (explaining institutional policies, recommending academic support services to promote student success, etc.).
  • Facilitate workshops on culture shock, stress management, and living in British Columbia.
  • Organize activities that encourage integration and social connection.
  • Monitor academic progress and provide support when needed.
  • Organize immigration information sessions with industry experts.

Support for Labour Market Integration

  • Deliver or organize job search workshops.
  • Support students in their job search efforts.
  • Refer students to the appropriate resources regarding the process of obtaining Permanent Residency (PR).

Collaboration with the Team

  • Conduct regular follow-ups with the project coordinator.
  • Participate in the International Students Committee.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant field of study.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in adult student services or an equivalent setting.
  • Knowledge of the post-secondary environment and familiarity with adult education in multicultural contexts.
  • Proficiency with computer tools and software (Google Drive, client management databases).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Curious, proactive, and able to take initiative.
  • Ability to understand expressed needs and identify solutions to support students in achieving successful settlement and integration.
  • Strong autonomy, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent team player with a commitment to providing regular updates and feedback to supervisors and colleagues.
