The Fédération des aînées et aînés francophones du Canada (FAAFC) is seeking a Career Development Advisor. This role aims to support experienced French-speaking individuals living in minority language communities across Canada in their journey toward returning to or maintaining employment, transitioning careers, or enhancing and promoting their skills and experience.

Summary of Responsibilities

Under the supervision of senior management and the national coordination team, the selected candidate will:

  • Provide individualized support to French-speaking individuals aged 50+ living in minority language communities who are seeking employment or career transitions;
  • Assess clients’ needs, skills, and goals in order to develop personalized action plans;
  • Deliver online workshops on topics such as résumé adaptation based on targeted roles, interview preparation, recognizing ageism in the workplace, using online job platforms, promoting transferable skills, and more;
  • Facilitate group sessions to help participants improve job search strategies, share successes, and encourage peer support;
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all project stakeholders (employers, partners, community organizations, etc.) to support client hiring outcomes;
  • Contribute to data collection and ongoing program evaluation to improve effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of employment challenges facing French speakers in minority language communities in Canada (an asset);
  • Experience in career counseling, employment support, or career development and transition;
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops and deliver educational content;
  • Comfortable with digital tools (videoconferencing, social media, web platforms, etc.);
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, including remotely;
  • Excellent spoken and written French.
