College Instructor (APS Program) – Remote

The Collège Éducacentre, the only French-language college in British Columbia, is seeking an instructor to teach college-level courses as part of its Specialized Educational Assistant (APS) program, offered online to adult learners.

  • Contract: Part-time employee
  • Start date: September 2026
  • Location: The person may reside anywhere in Canada, though preference will be given to residents of British Columbia
  • Salary: Starting at $30/hour (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Vice President of Education and the APS program coordination team, the instructor will:

  • Adhere to and promote the mission, vision, and values of Collège Éducacentre
  • Teach assigned courses remotely, according to session needs
  • Prepare, adapt, and update teaching materials to stimulate student learning while considering different learning styles
  • Provide pedagogical support tailored to student needs
  • Assess student learning and monitor their progress
  • Facilitate videoconference sessions
  • Respond to student emails to support their learning
  • Write weekly communications (weekly notes, instructions, feedback)
  • Work collaboratively with the pedagogical and administrative team (student advisors, program coordination, registrar, tutors)
  • Support students experiencing difficulties in collaboration with student advisors
  • Be familiar with and apply institutional policies (late submissions, plagiarism, French language quality, etc.)
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Perform other related duties

Qualifications and Required Skills

  • University degree in a relevant field (education, special education, or related field), or equivalent experience
  • Recent experience in a school environment in British Columbia and strong understanding of the role of a Specialized Educational Assistant (APS)
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs and ability to translate these realities into a training context
  • In-depth knowledge of autism-related issues and current Ministry programs in British Columbia (an asset)
  • Open-mindedness, flexibility, patience, and sound judgment
  • Ability to adapt and work with a diverse student population
  • Strong ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating autonomy
  • Excellent communication skills in French (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency with digital tools (MS Office, Internet, Zoom, Moodle) in a remote teaching context
  • Experience teaching adult learners (an asset)
