Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Settlement & Service Navigation Officer serves as one of the primary points of contact for La Boussole’s clients. The successful candidate conducts initial needs assessments, develops personalized action plans, connects clients with appropriate internal and external services, and provides settlement support to newcomers, ensuring a coordinated and seamless client experience.


Key Responsibilities

Intake, Service Navigation & Settlement Support

  • Welcome new clients and conduct an initial needs assessment.
  • Develop an individualized action plan in collaboration with each client.
  • Present La Boussole’s services and connect clients with appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Coordinate referrals, monitor client pathways, and provide follow-up to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Support eligible newcomers throughout their settlement and integration process.
  • Develop personalized settlement plans based on each client’s needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of La Boussole’s programs, services, and community resources to provide appropriate referrals.

Individual Client Support

  • Provide one-on-one support tailored to clients’ needs.
  • Assist clients with administrative, social, and community-related processes.
  • Foster newcomers’ autonomy and successful integration.
  • Maintain regular follow-up and adjust interventions as clients’ needs evolve.

Community Development & Partnerships

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations and partners to facilitate access to services.
  • Participate in networking, outreach, information sessions, and community representation activities as required.
  • Promote settlement services within the Francophone community.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate client records in compliance with funder requirements.
  • Enter data and ensure proper administrative follow-up.
  • Prepare required reports and statistical information.
  • Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and contractual obligations.

Program Development

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of settlement services.
  • Identify emerging client needs and recommend service enhancements.
  • Help improve programs based on community needs and feedback.

Organizational Participation

  • Participate in La Boussole events and activities as required.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure integrated service delivery.
  • Help promote La Boussole’s services among clients, partners, and the broader community.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

  • Knowledge of the community sector and available resources is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and client management databases.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Social Work, Human Services, Community Development, Intercultural Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in settlement services, case management, community support, or client intervention.
  • Knowledge of newcomer settlement challenges and integration processes is an asset.
  • Familiarity with community resources and settlement services in British Columbia.
  • Excellent verbal and written French.
  • Good verbal and written English.
  • Successful Criminal Record Check.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position: 36 hours per week.
  • Salary: $29/hour.
  • Primarily daytime schedule, with occasional evening or weekend availability for events and activities.
  • Vacation: Three (3) weeks of paid vacation annually.
  • Sick leave: Ten (10) paid sick days per year.
  • Extended health benefits: Eligibility after three (3) months of employment.
  • Occasional travel for client support, meetings, and community activities.
  • Participation in organizational events as required.
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
