The successful candidate will coordinate, support, and monitor the Welcoming Francophone Communities (CFA) projects in Prince George and Nanaimo, working with local and provincial partners to promote welcoming, integration, and the progressive autonomy of these initiatives by March 31, 2028.

Contract duration: As soon as possible until March 31, 2028. Fixed-term contract.

Salary: $58,000–$60,000 per year, depending on experience.

Reporting to: Community Development Manager.

Position Description

The successful candidate will coordinate and support the Welcoming Francophone Communities (CFA) projects in Prince George and Nanaimo as part of the FFCB’s Community Development team.

They will support the implementation of innovative community action plans designed to improve services available to Francophone newcomers and promote their welcoming and integration within these two communities.

The position will also involve implementing selected initiatives outlined in the community plans and supporting local and provincial partners in their delivery.

Roles and Responsibilities

Coordination of the Community Advisory Committees (CCC)

  • In collaboration with the Cercle des Canadiens français de Prince George (CCFPG), plan CCC meetings, prepare agendas and materials, coordinate logistics, take meeting notes, and ensure appropriate follow-up;
  • In collaboration with the Association des francophones de Nanaimo, plan CCC meetings, prepare agendas and materials, coordinate logistics, take meeting notes, and ensure appropriate follow-up;
  • Support the implementation of CFA activities in collaboration with local and provincial partners;
  • Monitor the initiative and implement processes for evaluating and documenting promising practices;
  • Promote the initiative and contribute to communications activities related to the Welcoming Francophone Communities;
  • Demonstrate initiative and proactively propose solutions in the best interests of the project and within available resources, including proposing relevant resources and tools and identifying appropriate project partners;
  • Organize the sharing of best practices and exchange of experiences between the two CFA communities;
  • Support the development of the teams in both CFA communities, with the goal of ensuring project autonomy as of April 1, 2028;
  • Support both CFA communities in meeting the funding criteria of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and help them navigate their funding agreements;
  • Strengthen the promotion and visibility of CFA initiatives at the provincial and national levels;
  • Collect and compile data for reporting and accountability purposes, including progress reports;
  • Participate in the preparation, organization, and facilitation of meetings of the Francophone Immigration Network of British Columbia (RIFCB) with its members and other stakeholders;
  • Ensure compliance with IRCC funding requirements, particularly regarding monitoring, reporting, data collection, and achievement of project outcomes.

Profile

The ideal candidate is a facilitator who can bring partners together around a shared vision. They have excellent political and interpersonal skills, are able to support organizations in their development, and demonstrate autonomy and initiative.

They are comfortable working in a role where coordination, support, and collaboration are central to the responsibilities. They are also recognized for their administrative rigour, strong organizational skills, and ability to translate strategic directions into concrete actions on the ground.

Assets

  • Knowledge of Francophone communities in British Columbia and the issues facing Francophone communities in a minority-language context.
