La Boussole

Located in downtown Vancouver, La Boussole is a Francophone community centre that provides essential social services to individuals experiencing vulnerability, isolation, or precarious living conditions.

For more than 30 years, La Boussole has been rooted in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and stands as the leading francophone community center dedicated to supporting individuals facing vulnerability, isolation, or precarious living situations in British Columbia.
The organization offers a warm, inclusive space where any French-speaking person — newcomer, family, senior, precarious worker, or individual experiencing homelessness — can find support, resources, and personalized guidance.

La Boussole provides a comprehensive range of services aimed at strengthening autonomy and social inclusion:

Case management and social support:
Psychosocial assistance, personalized follow-up, crisis intervention, support with finding housing, and referrals to specialized resources.

Settlement services for newcomers:
Guidance through administrative procedures, integration into local systems, access to community services, and support for cultural adaptation.

Food bank:
Weekly distribution of food, essential products, snacks, and hot meals to meet the immediate needs of people in difficulty.

Eco-solidarity thrift store “Ensemble”:
Affordable second-hand clothing, promotion of circular economy practices, and upcycling workshops that provide dignity, material support, and community engagement opportunities.

Employment programs:
Job readiness support, resume writing assistance, professional workshops, and referrals to specialized employment services and local partners.

Social, cultural, and community activities:
Francophone events, thematic workshops, and initiatives designed to reduce isolation and strengthen community belonging.
